My beginning was a mistake. My mother was a free spirit and had a liaison with a handsome male in Springfield, MO. Through the compassion of a kind soul, my mother was taken in and given nourishment and a comfortable place to stay while she waited our arrival. I was born with brothers and sisters and was treated as part of the family of the kind soul who was also my foster mom. When all of us were of an age, we were parted from our mother and visited a strange place where we were prodded, poked, and pricked. My foster mom found loving homes for my mother and siblings and was hoping to keep me with her and decided to call me Precious. However, circumstances at the foster moms home forced my foster mom to try to find a loving home for me as well. She had to send me to a special place that had all kinds of noises and smells that were very different from what I was used to. But, I was a fun loving spirit and took everything in stride. I went on several trips and visited with all kinds of people who were looking for just the right companion. I would reach out at every opportunity, look at them with my light green eyes, and talk to them and try to convince them I was the loving companion they needed. One day, as I was waiting in my place at a cat show, a significant presence came close and looked at me. I was eager to show off again and was determined that I would convince her that I was ready to go home with her. She picked me up and I started to show her with grooming and purring and biscuit making that I was “The One”. She carried me into the noisy room with all of the sounds of a cat show in full swing. She sat down with me and I proceeded to get comfortable in her lap and decided that it was a good time the take a cat nap. Evidently I did such a good job of convincing her that she took me to a special area in the show room and had my picture taken. When the cat show was over, I found myself on my way to my new loving home with my new mom in Texas. Shortly, after being introduced to the rest of the indoor colony of cats, my mom decided that I was unique enough to attend some of those cat shows. My natural cuteness and personality stood me in good stead and my mom went ahead to register me with TICA (The International Cat Association) with the name of Lady P.O.S.H. (Precious Of Stolen Heart). I was shown as a Household Pet (HHP) Kitten at numerous cat shows throughout the country during the show season of 2005/2006 and accumulated enough points to place 1st as HHP Kitten in the South Central Region. My points were also enough to place me as 13th International HHP Kitten out of 12 regions worldwide. I was shown again during the 2006/2007 show season as a HHP Cat, placing 2nd in the South Central Region and 20th International.
The business name was originally registered in Flint, MI in the early 80’s. The partners were trying to come up with something that was different yet short and sweet. It was derived from a game one of the owners used to play, Dungeons & Dragons. The first part of the name comes from unicorn and the last part from pegasus. The other owner quipped that it sounded like “a horny flying horse”. (HA) The partners entered into several businesses using Unisus as the basis. Unisus, Ltd. came to be the parent company. Several other businesses were Unisus II (used books, gifts, & novelties), Unisus Real Estate, Unisus Investments, Unisus Manx (registered TICA & CFA cat breeder). Somewhere in the mid to late 80’s, the owners started in the cat fancy by showing a Household Pet. They progressed to purchasing base stock in Manx cats and proceeded to prove with successive wins that the bloodlines were sound. Shortly after entering into the world of the cat show enthusiasts, they were invited to vend cat supplies and products. Unisus, Ltd. General Supplies is still known from coast to coast and border to border as one of the premier suppliers of products for the cat show attendees as well as for the general public that visit the cat shows. Unisus, Ltd. Is currently the oldest and longest running business in the cat fancy selling cat supplies and products. At the end of Feb 2007, a severe life changing event occurred. To say the least, cat shows became a secondary business. This gave the owners an opportunity to move on to a new business venture. Over the years, the owners had attended numerous auctions, estate sales, garage/yard sales and related events. The acquisition of an abundance of ’STUFF’ built up over the years made the decision to open a store front a challenge. Several times over the years, the owners have rented space at several different Antique Malls within the DFW Metroplex and surrounding areas. So the decision to open their own Antique Mall ‘writ small’ was quickly made. The partners have usually used the Unisus persona to create a new business, but, in this case the cat fancy made an impact. The new shop was filed as Lady Posh Estate. (see page titled Lady Posh) The shop, Lady Posh Estate (LPE), has eclectic items with an international flair. Some of the more prominent sections are, Antique/Vintage Costume Jewelry, Foreign Coin & Currency, Dragons, International Handcrafts, Collector Plates, Marbles, and Old Toys. The range of other items are extremely diverse. The shop specializes in nothing and everything.
